Thanks for the post Jacob, timely and pertinent given the content of my last post.

I'm intrigued by the 'claiming'(?)of the term Real Time Composition by Joao. I thought it had been used in musical composition circles for some time now and was related to music software. I wonder if he has taken out a patent on that..

The question of application of improvised dance in performance to everyday life; well that question persistently bugs me and mirrors larger debates about the role and function of art in general.

I have this feeling that I am largely a product of the culture and society I live in. Somehow it (the culture) has played a significant role in this improvised dance thing being created in the first place. My continued pursuit of it results in a contribution of sorts, a contribution to the ongoing writing of the culture it sits in. I think all artists do that simply by making their work whether they want to or not.

My art or my practice is comprised of a heightened set of skills and abilities that may not have fiscal value but nonetheless exist. And I have an internal push that demands that I deploy them, that I dance and make performance. All I know is that I MUST do this.

What I have noticed is that in my everyday interactions I am far more conscious, and honest than I was before I began practicing dance in this way. And I know more thoroughly how to operate this thing called my body. But I don't know if anyone would necessarily hire me for any work on any of those grounds either.

As for writing apps, those are usually works of fiction aren't they?

Peace.
